SPECIAL EVENTS:

February is “Take Heart & Smile” month
Throughout February, EdVenture will offer programs that teach kids the importance of having a healthy mouth and a healthy body. Events include Meet Flo and Mo (EdVenture’s automated health educators) and a dental health fair featuring the Tooth Fairy (Feb. 20). Events are free with admission.

“Museums on Us” Free Weekend
Feb. 6-7
“Museums on Us” is a Bank of America program that offers its card holders free admission to more than 70 museums nationwide. EdVenture Children’s Museum is the only museum in South Carolina participating in this program. Information: museums.bankofamerica.com.

Family Night
Feb. 9, 5-8 p.m.
$1 per person admission.

“EdLympics”
Feb. 13
If you can’t get to Vancouver, come to EdVenture Children’s Museum to experience an opening ceremony. Join in the fun of a parade and torch lighting. Free with museum admission.

Tales for Tots
“Peter Rabbit,” Feb. 14, 2-3 p.m.
A fun and educational series with a read-to-me time followed by a character appearance to make stories come alive. Free with museum admission.

President’s Day
Feb. 15
EdVenture Children’s Museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“EdLympics” Winter Games
Feb. 20
EdVenture Children’s Museum’s version of winter sporting events. In the Snowville exhibit, try your skill at speed-skating, luge and team cross-country skiing. Free with museum admission.

Feb. 28
Exhibit is free with museum admission.

“The Monkey King: A Story from China”
Through May 9
This traveling exhibit introduces visitors to Chinese history, culture, art, religion and geography. Free with museum admission.

Art Studio
9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays – Feb. 6, 13, 20, 27
Art Studio Saturdays allow children to express themselves through painting.

Toddler Tuesday
Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23 – 10 a.m.
Story reading and activity time each week in My Backyard.

Brrr!
2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
Find out what makes snow cold in EdVenture’s seasonal science show, “Brrr!” These free public programs are held in the R&D lab next to the North Pole in “Snowville” through Feb. 27.

Chemistry A-Z
1 p.m. Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays
In EdVenture’s “Body Works Lab,” check out the chemistry lab and participate in fast, hands-on chemistry experiments.

Movie-making
Saturdays – 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Sundays – 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
In EdVenture’s “Cyberloft,” learn how to make a movie.

Soda Factory
Saturdays – 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Sundays – 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
In EdVenture’s “R & D Lab,” lmake your own soft drink.

Amazing Amusements
Saturdays – 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Sundays 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
In EdVenture’s “R & D Lab,” design and test roller coasters.

Home Safe Home
Tuesday through Saturday – 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m.; Sunday – 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m.
This multimedia, 4-D interactive theater presentation teaches children about fire safety and reminds parents to check fire alarms and create an escape plan in case of emergency.
