We’re halfway through the second quarter, and things are going well for South Carolina.
It has the lead (10-7) and its offense has reached midfield. Stephen Garcia is getting better touch on his passes, and the line is creating an occasional hole for the tailbacks – Brian Maddox is back on the scene now.
We knew the Gamecocks should be able to move the ball today. The difference has been the USC defense clamping down on Arkansas, especially in the secondary.
Well, the other difference was the idiotic fake-punt call by Arkansas, which gave USC a short field, something it hasn’t gotten much this year. But give USC credit for jumping on the opportunity.
