Some quick hitters from the USC postgame interviews:
- Steve Spurrier said his team “just got beat by a better team today.” He said that twice. He also said the offense was “way too conservative” at the end of the first half, meaning they ran the ball too much near midfield.
“We’re just not real good right now,” Spurrier said. “I don’t know how else to say it. Coaches are coaching … Just not getting the results right now.”
- Stephen Garcia estimated the team’s frustration level is at a “7 or 8″ on a scale of 1-10.
- Garrett Anderson took the blame for the muffed snap, saying his footing was off.
- Weslye Saunders said the locker room was “very quiet” and they needed to win the next two to cancel out these last two.

Stephen Garcia estimated the team’s frustration level is at a “7 or 8″ on a scale of 1-10.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME….it should be a 10 after every loss. We need an attitude adjustment Big time.

Some quick hits of my own:
- Offense was ‘way too conservative’? Whose fault is that, Steve? And how many more times do we get to hear that this season?
- ‘We’re just not real good right now’? Whose fault is that, Steve?
- Team frustration is a 7 or 8? You mean there is some semblance of satisfaction in the locker room with the way things are going? That’s amped up my frustration to a 12 or 13 on a scale of 10.

Only thing spurrier has done at SC has made the athletic dept money. I guess .500 season is okay at vanderbilt which seems that they are 2-3 against the Big Visor. It is a let down to everybody that we have the most unmotivated and uninspired football team in the country. i have held season tickets for 17yrs probaly only missed maybe 10 home games in that period, and im not giving another dime until the hire a coach that doesnt get a discount on coffe at Hardees on sunday. We need a Bill Cohwer or John Grudden fire on our sidline. Lets pay for that instead of for .500 seasons.

Then, we have to stop trying to hire “Big Name” coaches who are looking forward only to retirement! We need to hire a coach who wants to make a name for himself in Columbia. A young coach with proven ability as a head coach (no more OJT like with Brad Scott).
But that’s probably one or two seasons away, at best.

For Spurrier to be successful he has to have a perfect fit personnel wise with his offensive strategy, and he doesn’t have it and has a hard time capitulating and adjusting the scheme to fit his personnel.
Both the Spurrier and Garcia experiments may have run their course.
Consider Charlie Strong for head coach (along with his strong defensive acumen, believe players would rally behind him in a big way, and he has a strong recruiting footprint in Florida) and entice either the Boise State offensive coordinator (Bryan Harsin) or assistant head coach/receivers coach (Brent Pease) to come over an implement that attacking, high-powered system to see if it can shine with the skilled Carolina players, especially the receivers. If Charlie Strong is not interested, go for the Boise State head coach, Chris Peterson, challenging him to see if he can take the SEC by storm with his system.

SRW…garcia isn’t the problem….he had 300-something yards today. OL is the biggest problem. We have a great OL coach in his first year. Give him time-let’s recruit some OLinemen and go from there.
On the coaching search…don’t bail on spurrier yet. I do like strong, and Peterson, but Brian Kelly is a better choice. He’s young and brings a fire that we need. Give spurrier the time he wants, he deserves is-after that, then go get someone young, fired up, and successful.

Anybody ever think of Utah’s Head Coach? What more motivation would he need??? In the SEC (with SEC-head coach salary), face his mentor every season? After what the Utes did to the Crimson Tide last year??? What other motivation would that exciting young man need?? Kiss the visor Goom-Bye!!

GCockfan–Garcia had 300+ yards TODAY…but during other games this year has regularly shown the same mental lapses as last year. He doesn’t seem to understand the nuances of the QB position most of the time (whether not taking the sack when he has the chance to throw it away, avoiding the fumble on his scrambles but getting down instead of acting like a fullback, consistently accurate with ball placement on his throws or throwing to a spot on routes and not necessarily the receiver after the cut, reading coverage, etc.). Yes OL is subpar but use what you’ve got not what you wish you had…adjust the play calling, matchups, schemes, and talent accordingly

Spurrier’s passing game requires perfect timing…Garcia can’t get the hang of it

GCockfan- How much time does it take. Let start with Nick Saban 3 yrs. and dont say Carolina is not Alabama cause they have been at the bottom before he got there. Go look at Rugers, Tennesse(first year), Boise, Now even freakin Duke puts more point on the board than we do. No they dont play the Florida, Alabama but, we dont beat those either. We’ve beat Florida once under Spurrier and Georgia I believe only once. Lost to who VANDY two years in a roll. What does he deserve he won how many titles at Florida, Duke and NFL. He was a premire coach in the day but, todays game is faster and there is more talent to go around. I dont think he is devoted enough to take us to that next level. Interviews after practice and games we win are like watching a depressing movie. Same old (we got to play a little better maybe we can throw the ball around today lalalalalal! Sound like anything you heard before? Time to go find a new golf course to play on!
