Moe Brown pumped for UT

Lost in USC receiver Moe Brown’s colorful comments about wanting to show Lane Kiffin how the Gamecocks pump gas Saturday in Knoxville was this:

Would Brown, who missed the Vandy game after his concussion at Alabama, be cleared to play after he threw fuel on the fire (sorry) at the Tuesday press conference?

The answer: Pump away, Moe.

USC coach Steve Spurrier said Brown was back at practice Tuesday and is expected to play at Tennessee.

“He should be cleared. He was out practicing yesterday in no-contact, which we didn’t have much contact with the wide receivers, anyway,” Spurrier said Wednesday during the SEC teleconference. “But anyway, he was running around pretty well so he’s scheduled to play this week.”

As for Brown’s remarks about Kiffin’s “pumping gas” comments, Spurrier didn’t seem too bothered.

“We don’t put a muzzle on our guys, so I guess he was just expressing his opinion,” he said.

Actually, Spurrier occasionally will throw the muzzle on players. Tight end Weslye Saunders hasn’t been heard from much since he jokingly mentioned getting a 15-yard celebration penalty if he scored a touchdown against his hometown N.C. State Wolfpack.

Quarterback Stephen Garcia is available to the media only after games.

But Brown is one of the team captains and has been a bright, articulate spokesman for USC for the past couple of years. Plus, my guess is Spurrier liked what Brown had to say.
