Campaigning, but not for an office

I wrote this story last week about how the candidates for Columbia mayor are trying to win the endorsement of the Columbia Firefighters Association. Now it appears the Columbia Firefighters Association is trying to win the endorsement of Columbia voters.

CFFA’s news release:

The Columbia Firefighters Association will be speaking with Melrose Heights Neighborhood Association and the North Columbia Civic Club tonight  to address major concerns the association is having with council actions that are directly affecting areas of public safety.  We will talk about the impact of the Engine Closures and the upcoming proposed Special TIF TAX districts and the impacts they have on the Fire Department’s ability to provide adequate fire coverage.

What’s interesting about this is that the neighborhood associations did not ask the CFFA to come speak. The CFFA called and asked to be placed on the agenda.

“We want them to know that their City Council are making some poor fiscal choices,” CFFA spokesman Travis Carricato said.
