Columbia's hybrid City Council
Lots of people thing Columbia should have a strong-mayor form of government, where the city’s mayor would be full time and act as the city manager. Mayor Bob Coble has advocated for a hybrid strong mayor form, but so far has been unsuccessful.

A 6-1 vote that was really 4-3
Columbia City Council members approved the controversial landlord registration ordinance last night by a 6-1 vote. Councilman Kirkman Finlay voted no.
While the official vote was 6-1, the real vote was 4-3.
