Mayoral fundraising reports
Mayoral candidates Kirkman Finlay, Steve Morrison and Sparkle Clark have turned in their fourth quarter fundraising reports, which were due Monday. I have posted them to the campaign disclosures page. Morrison raised $32,185 and Finlay raised $121,351.52. (Finlay actually reported $127,365.52, but $6,014 of it were “in kind” donations, not cash). Clark raised $553.

Filing opens today
Filing for Columbia’s City Council elections officially opens today. It ends Feb. 5. Here’s who says they are running:
Mayor

Steve Benjamin, attorney, former state Attorney General candidate

Dueling news conferences
Last week, nature photographer and U.S. Postal Service worker Sparkle Clark sent out a news release saying she would have a news conference today at 2 p.m. to announce her candidacy for mayor.
Yesterday, candidate Steve Benjamin sent out a news release saying he would also hold a news conference today from 1:45 p.m. to 1:55 [...]
