Prepping for your ACC fantasy draft

Single-wing back Banks McFadden would have been gold in 1930s keeper leagues.
Here’s when you realize:
A) You need to step away from the computer and back into reality.
B) A mind is indeed a terrible thing to waste
C) There is only so much left to be said before August practices begin (Clemson opens with a late three-hour [...]

Scouting the preseason, Pt. 2

This Sam was always playing the field. Whether Clemson’s SAM will be remains to be seen.
To follow up on yesterday’s blog about observations from a recent summer workout, here are a few impressions from the defensive side of the ball:
When Tommy Bowden let the cat out of the bag that safety DeAndre McDaniel was [...]

Follow the Mays

If James Mays would have played in the baby blue, he would probably be a member of the Carolina Bobcats right now. As an aside, Tyler Hansbrough was awarded two foul shots on this play. (AP photo)
We interrupt the months-long buildup to football season with a brief basketball update/rant on former Clemson forward James Mays.

Scouting the preseason workouts

Gofiguresports.com offers the opportunity to buy a customized figurine for a mere $65. Here’s wondering if Tyler Grisham got this as a Christmas present … and if leaving his left index and middle fingers white was an oversight.

Fire damages Leggett’s home

Just wanted to pass along some information about the fire at Clemson baseball coach Jack Leggett’s house off Lake Keowee yesterday:

According to the initial rough estimate, more than 50 percent of the home was damaged or lost because of the blaze, Keowee department Capt. David Mansfield said.

The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has been called [...]

A Tuna helper

Phillip Merling’s uncle and position coach, Chris Rumph, used to challenge him to wrestling matches. If Bill Parcells does, Merling might have to go sumo. (Miami Herald photo)
As you might have seen on the news wires, former Clemson defensive end Phillip Merling, the top pick in the second round of last April’s NFL Draft, avoided [...]

Fire at Leggett’s home

I have yet to confirm the severity, but a Keowee fire official has confirmed that they have been battling a blaze at the home of Clemson baseball coach Jack Leggett for several hours this afternoon and tonight (Sunday), which should say all we need to know about how much damage has probably been done.
I’ve been [...]

Intro to the Clemson blog

I once chased Roscoe Crosby’s motorcycle through the street (OK, maybe streets) of Buffalo, S.C., in pursuit of an interview. In retrospect, it might not have been worth it. (AP photo)

As if the last week did not include enough suggestions for how high the expectations are for Clemson’s season, then comes this:
I am … finally [...]
