Intro to the Clemson blog

(AP Photo) Roscoe Crosby is the first and hopefully last Clemson athlete I got into a motorcycle chase with. If not for his superior knowledge of Buffalo, S.C.\'s two streets, my ol\' Taurus might have had a chance.I once chased Roscoe Crosby’s motorcycle through the street (OK, maybe streets) of Buffalo, S.C., in pursuit of an interview. In retrospect, it might not have been worth it. (AP photo)

As if the last week did not include enough suggestions for how high the expectations are for Clemson’s season, then comes this:

I am … finally … blogging about Clemson athletics. Which is to say, for most of the year, Tigers football, football recruiting, NFL draft stock, etc.

So welcome.

Let the record show that despite its immense (and unexplainable) interest, here’s drawing the line at the color of their jersey/pant combinations.

The blog starts in earnest Monday, and there certainly should be plenty to discuss from the get-go. Practice begins Friday, so we’re leading off our camp coverage in the newspaper Sunday with 10 storylines for camp.

As the blogs go along, please feel free to weigh in on anything you’d like to see, wouldn’t like to see, or like/don’t like about the current blog content.

Having grown into more of a pro sports fan because of the impartiality required in this job, I’m a frequenter to blogs I have a great deal of respect for in the San Jose Mercury News (Golden State Warriors), Miami Herald (Dolphins) and Minnesota Star-Tribune (Twins).

So I envision this blog growing into a blend of their best traits. Expect some quick news updates plus opinions and observations that I can’t necessarily express in the paper because of my job responsibilities.

Hopefully you’ll find most of it either entertaining, insightful or newsworthy.

Have a great weekend, and we’ll get the ball rolling next week!

Thanks for starting the blog. If you like pro sports blogs you might enjoy Dave O’Brien’s Braves blog on AJC.com. He’s a good read even in a tough year for the Braves.

    Go Tigers!

    Chris,
Appreciate it. I’ve heard Dave’s blog is outstanding. But methinks I’d have to be able to stomach the Braves to read it. Still some bad blood there from the Kent Hrbek/Ron Gant falling out in Game 2 of the ‘91 World Series.

Thanks for the blog. I will be checking it out every morning. Now, lets just make sure we make it through August camp without any academic, injuries, or judicial issues. Here’s to a BIG season for the Tigers.

Anyone know where this cat is now? or what he is doing with his life now?

I’m sorry, i’m referring to Crosby

I’d be willing to bet he’s either still “training” in Columbia or just hanging out in Union. His story just leaves me shaking my head at his unrealized potential. He was worth all the hype, but so many circumstances and choices led to his career fizzling.
