Call it a comeback

I’ve established that I’m not a betting man; the only sports bet I’ve ever made – in my college summer job working for the local school maintenance department, I used to wager a root beer with my supervisor that the American League would trump the NL in the all-star game.

I think I’m up to a case. But that’s irrelevant.

tackle1If its third- or fourth-and-1, here’s betting Miami offensive coordinator Mark Whipple dials up a play-action pass instead of sending a running back into the brick wall that has been Clemson’s defensive front in short-yardage situations (see Maryland’s 4th-and-1 in its own territory, or Wake Forest getting stonewalled at the goal-line twice at the 1 last week).

A penalty sent Wake Forest back to the 11 anyhow, but this tackle by Kavell Conner last week might have been the best-executed defensive play (certainly the most impressive play) I’ve seen from Clemson this season.

Anyway, while technical problems severed our blog system earlier this week, my shortcomings conspired to derail my standard series of entries these past few days (as if anyone but my dad probably cared …)

So a quick programming note – our gameday forecast has been pushed back and probably won’t be posted until Friday evening, at the earliest (unless South Beach calls today. Wait, I’m not supposed to write that).

No really, Paul. We like you and missed you. Thanks for the consistently good info.

Thanks, Paul, for the balanced perspective. It’s nice to be able to keep up with the Tigers all the way up in Calgary, Alberta.
