Press conference will be Tuesday

South Carolina has called a news conference for Tuesday at 1 p.m., when it will introduce Darrin Horn as its new men’s basketball coach.

It will be held in the McGuire Room in the Colonial Center, according to USC media relations director Steve Fink. The school is not confirming that Horn is the choice, but sources have said since this morning that Horn, now at Western Kentucky, has accepted the job.

No word yet on a possible pep rally, but right now that’s not anticipated.

I hope not, I’d like to go, I was there when they introduced ODOM at the PR FAC, but this might be for PRESS ONLY since it appears they’re gonna have a “PEP RALLY” where I’m sure dozens, maybe a dozen fans will show up…

Good hire by the chickens. Too bad Purnell will coach him out of the gym.

Yeah, Purnell really showed that coaching ability in the first round.  For some reason, I’m not worried.

he certainly has showed it against the chickens the past few years and in taking a terrible clemson program to new heights. you don’t have to worry, be satisfied with fourth in the sec east every year.

Let’s give Horn a chance.  He will be our

coach so let him do his job.  Gamecock fans

have been disappointed in so many coaches

(Older, more experienced, supposed to be

great coaches)and they fell on their faces

in the SEC.  Don’t start this thing about

us being in the ACC again.  We haven’t been

able to beat anybody in the ACC lately.  It

will take time and a coach with a lot of

energy, good recruiting skills, and great

coaching abilities.  Hopefully, Horn is our

man and until proven otherwise, we know

nothing and should give him our support.

I am super excited about what Horn brings to South Carolina basketball.  He brings excitement, energy & smarts.  He took his team to the sweet sixteen this year.  That’s a far cry from Purnell and Ben “Pitchfork” Tillman College.  All they’ve shown is that they can beat Duke, lose to Charlotte and blow multiple double digit leads all in the same season.  I guess that is what the upstate kittens define as “new heights.”
