Hoops schedule nearly set

North Carolina-Central, in its second year as a Division I basketball school, is the 28th game on USC’s schedule. The Eagles will visit the Colonial Life Arena – getting used to saying that – on Dec. 16.

A more chipper Spurrier

I’m not sure if Steve Spurrier knows something the rest of us don’t, but for whatever reason, after a few dead weeks in the press room, the head ball coach was in a much brighter mood today.
There were one-liners. There was towel-snapping with the writers. (Not literally, and that’s an image we could do without). [...]

Duke or USC: Who ya got?

So today I’m working on the weekly ACC-SEC rankings that appear in Thursday’s paper, and I’ve arrived at an interesting decision: Who to rank higher, Duke or South Carolina?
Yes, it’s come to this.
Here’s the tale of the tape:
Records: Duke 3-1, USC 3-2. Edge barely to Duke, having played one less game, but only one guarantee [...]

One man's view

At least one ticket-holder was unhappy enough with the quarterback decision that he decided not to go to Williams-Brice on Saturday.

Your basketball fix

For the devoted hoops fans out there, enjoy some highlights from yesteryear:

Argue if you must whether the game has passed by Steve Spurrier. There’s still no doubt that when it comes to unpredictability, the ol’ ball coach has still got it.

"That's a good one to ask coach"

I felt sorry for Chris Smelley on Wednesday, sitting there answering questions from an unkind horde of reporters asking no-win questions. And I’m well-qualified to weigh in on this, since I was one of those unkind reporters who was asking those no-win questions.
Hey, it’s a living. Most days.
Smelley had to wait a couple minutes for [...]

Moving Whitlock to defense

Remember all that talk about C.C. Whitlock being the heir to Kenny McKinley? Remember how he was South Carolina’s future at receiver?

Another random thought

The budding quarterback controversy between Stephen Garcia and Chris Smelley could be telling at least in one regard. There have been a lot of whispers locally, and loud wondering elsewhere in places like ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption”, that Steve Spurrier is nearing his breaking point, and won’t be around much longer.

Insert your joke here

A man was arrested during the South Carolina-Wofford game for urinating off the side of Williams-Brice Stadium.
