Hoops recruiting update
As it appears right now, the South Carolina men’s basketball team will sign two players during the fall signing period, which starts Tuesday and goes through Nov. 19.
A third target, 6-foot-9 Keith Clanton of Orlando, Fla., eliminated South Carolina from his list last week, according to the Orlando Sentinel’s web site. Clanton will decide between South Florida and Central Florida.
That leaves USC still looking for a big man for its class. Its two commitments for the 2009 class are Lakeem Jackson, a 6-5 wing player from the Charlotte area, and Ramon Galloway, a 6-1 combo guard from Florida.
It’s not clear if the Gamecocks have any other big men on their radar. There’s a definite need, with Sam Muldrow, Mike Holmes and Austin Steed set to be juniors next year, and Mitchell Carter a senior.
The Gamecocks did bring in another wing player, 6-4 Sherrod Wright of Mount Vernon, N.Y., for a visit last weekend. He would be a member of the 2009 class.

Seth,
What are our chances of getting Sherrod Wright?
we really do need a big man in the worst way…
We could have used Keith Clanton but I guess he did not think he could play in the SEC. Gerlado
I got the feeling that Clanton wanted to stay close to home. I could be wrong, but that was my impression.
Hello Seth,
Thanks for the great coverage! As to hoops recruiting, are there any “big bodies” at the junior college level that might be possibilities?
