Bigger lineup will return

Look for South Carolina to go big again in the starting lineup on Saturday night. Coach Darrin Horn said Friday that the move Wednesday went well enough that he would probably go that way again when Ole Miss comes to town.

Sophomore center Sam Muldrow’s entrance into the lineup, replacing guard Brandis Raley-Ross, created a front line of the 6-9 Muldrow, 6-7 Mike Holmes at power forward and 6-7 Dominique Archie at small forward. It only lasted about four minutes each half, as Horn didn’t return to it after the first substitution. But he indicated what he does Saturday night will depend on how the game’s going.

“I think we’ll do very similar to what we did the other night. Of course every game is different as the game progresses, based on foul trouble, flow and those things,” Horn said. “But we wanted to try something different to get off to a better start, really, more than worrying about being bigger or anything like that. We started pretty well, so we’ll stick with it.”

Archie said his role didn’t actually change that much in the bigger lineup.

“When I was at the 4, I basically had a green light to go to the wing, when I had an opportunity, when I had space. I just didn’t do it much,” he said.

Good update. If he can find time for Mitch Carter that would be terrific to give Holmes or Muldrow some time to catch their breath. Geraldo
