Which Carolina ya got?

For years, South Carolina basketball fans have been clamoring for a game against the bigger-name Carolina to the north.  They may get it this year – in the NIT.

As I write this, North Carolina is getting pummeled on the road at Maryland. It’s just the latest downfall for the defending national champions, who will fall to 13-10 overall, and 2-6 in the ACC.

Match up the resumes, and they’re pretty telling.

Win total: 13 for both.

Higher RPI rank? That was South Carolina as of Sunday, at 69. North Carolina was 10 spots below.

Lost on the road by 26 this weekend? South Carolina did. (North Carolina only lost by 21.)

Beat Kentucky? South Carolina did. North Carolina did not, losing in Rupp Arena by three.

Lost at a mid-major South Carolina school? Both did. (USC fell at Wofford, UNC lost at College of Charleston.)

Best nonconference victories: North Carolina, which beat Michigan State and Ohio State. USC is pinning its hopes on Richmond and, to a lesser extent, South Florida.

Best conference record: USC is 4-4 at the halfway mark, North Ccarolina is 2-6.

Yikes.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here, both clubs need to concentrate on conference play and finishing strong. Post season tournament play for either team at the moment is definitely a stretch, NIT or CBI!!!

The Gamecocks lost two starters early in the season including its 2nd best player. The Tarheels are loaded with 5-star recruits. Based on its record – UNC should NOT get a bid to the NCAA – it may NOT even qualify for a bid to the NIT. Any bid that USC gets will be quite an accomplishment for our undermanned team.

All you have to do is listen to espn or any other national sports show and when they say Carolina, they mean North Carolina. Same goes for USC. It means Southern Cal. Why not embrace the one name noone else can claim? South Carolina.

It’s called thestate.com, idiot. gogamecocks.com is a section of that, fool. Like the comics. Very much like the comics. If you’d stop spending the money your mama gives you on beer and cigarettes, maybe you could afford to visit and join a real gamecocks website, moron.

Hey docock, I didn’t like the outcome of the game at all, not one bit. But, I was secure in the fact that: that very day, I would have to listen to people like you for only 364 days, because it NEVER happens two years in a row, and usually only every 5 years. And you know it. Anyway, how much did you like having your hiney spanked by Seth on “A note on the NIT” on the 19th, you silly little petulant child? Like Seth said, shut your nasty mouth. Go eat some soap.

I am so sorry, doocock. I was incorrect. It was in the comments to Seth’s “Horn:Success was this close” that you were put into your place. Still, eat your soap and shutup.
